FROM THE WEST

Greetings Brethren,

The Worshipful Master is making plans for a couple of exciting
upcoming events. Among these is the annual Shelby Co. outdoor lodge to
be held at Cole’s Lake again this year on August 2, 2008. Our lodge will
be the host and will have the candidate for the Master Mason degree.
Mark your calendars and plan to attend.
The Shelby Co. Lodges Memorial Day program – May 26th will begin with
a breakfast at 7AM and the program to begin at 8 AM. The public is
invited and it will last about 45 minutes. This program will take place at
Shelby 28 Lodge.
Also, for you brothers that say “I haven’t been to lodge for so long I don’t
know if I can still get in”, we are planning a “Rusty Nail” degree to help
you remember some of the degree work and jog you memory on “how to
get in”. We haven’t set a date yet, but get ready and spread the word. It
will be a family fun day and will give you an opportunity to see the new
construction that is nearing completion on the “Goodrich Hall”. We’ll
announce the date in the next Trestle Board.
Of course you don’t have to wait for the Rusty Nail degree to come to
lodge, I’m sure you will be able to get in. If you haven’t been in the new
lodge building and seen how great our lodge room looks you are missing
something you can be very proud of. It’s not completed yet, but you can
see it is going to be great. Best of all, it’s on one floor.

See you in lodge.

Fraternally,
Bob Esarey
Senior Warden

CRAFT CLUB NEWS

I would like to thank everyone who participated with the Spaghetti Dinner
and also those who donated pies and or money. There are only a few
ways to raise money for the completion of the second phase of the new
building and this was one of them. We have a lot new members and the
best way for them to learn is for the more seasoned members to show
them the way. There will be more fund raisers in the future and the way
to succeed in these endeavors is for everyone, veterans and rookies to
help.

BUILDING COMMITTEE

Well, the gloomy days of winter have nearly left us and we can begin
thinking about the coming of Spring. We have really made great
progress on phase two of the building as we have ‘green tags’ for the
electrical and heating and cooling. About ¾ of the dry wall has been hung
and the furnace is working so the ‘taping and mud’ can begin soon. John
Haynes, Ezra Cradic, Tracy Wilcher, Bill Johnson and others have given
of their time accomplishing what has been completed to date. There is
still additional work to be done and monies needed. Fred Nevels has
donated a three ‘hole’ sink for the kitchen and the OES has made
provisions to help with some of the financial needs of the kitchen and
bathrooms.
If you have not found time to come and see what has been accomplished
or have not been able to provide financial help – now is the time. We are
entering the final part of completing phase two and any and all help is
needed. The plumbing rough-in needs to be done and with the help of
volunteers it will be completed. Then we can begin the final steps of
finishing the building. No monies used to date have come from the
members dues or fees – donations and gifts have provided the needed
funds.
Looking forward to seeing you at your Lodge soon.

Chairman and Trustee

FROM THE SOUTH

Hello,
We have so much planned for the coming months. The Chapter will be
having elections on May 6th. I hope you can be there to help elect the
next core of officers.
Sister Mary, our Worthy Matron has planned a very special “open”
Friends Night on May 15th, 7:30pm. So come and enjoy the fun. Make
sure you bring your thinking caps. You can bring a friend, they do not
have to be a member. Masons, bring your family and friends and join us.
At the stated meeting on June 3rd, we will be honoring Sister Mary and
Brother Duane, our Worthy Matron and Worthy Patron for their year of
service. I know that they would love to see you there.
The 2008 Session of the Indiana Grand Chapter, Order of the Eastern
Star will be held June 13th, 14th and 15th at the Marriott at 21st and
Shadeland.
Open Installation of Officers for 2008-2009 is planned for June 28th at 7:
30pm, everyone is invited. Masons this includes you and your family.
I walked in the Susan B. Komen Race for the Cure for breast cancer on
April 19th. In May 2006, I was diagnosed with breast cancer, I thank God
each day that it was found early, some are not. Living with cancer has
become a daily life for a lot of people and will continue until a cure is
found. If you have a chance to help support, please do so, many lives
depend on your help. If you, someone in your family or friends are living
with cancer, my prayers are with you.
